All the way back in 1928, Narciso Delladio began handcrafting boots and shoes for the hardest working people around, the farmers and lumberjacks working on the Italian mountainside. His shoes quickly gained a reputation for quality, and soon he began producing custom mountaineering boots for the Italian military. 

Over the following years, La Sportiva would continue to expand and innovate, creating some of the worlds best footwear for hiking, climbing, and running. Today the company remains where it started: in the Italian mountains surrounded by the perfect testing ground. Unlike so many of its competitors, La Sportiva owns and operates its very own state-of-the-art factory, supporting 140 families in the local community. Their factory places them a step above the rest, allowing them to introduce quality control simply unmatched by outsourcing companies. 

Each new item is hand designed and tested in the mountains surrounding La Sportiva by the dedicated and passionate members of their community. The passion built into every pair of hiking boots, climbing shoe, and piece of apparel is easy to see.
